Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington works as an writer, journalist, TV host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she relocated to England at the age of sixteen and then completed her studies at Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she became the president of the renowned debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student who was elected to this position. She became a syndicated conservative writer following the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a couple of years following, she launched an online voice platform which offered critiques of political scenarios. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna was famous when she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent Candidate for the California Recall election to succeed former Governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted efficient vehicles that use less fuel. She was named one of the Most influential women in media according to Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th place in the list. That same year Guardian listed her among the 100 most influential media on their list. In 2011 AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media company, which also included a number of existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos the management and journalism consultant. While she was very close with her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother which shaped her entire life. At a young age she showed the qualities of a leader for which she's still known. When she was 16 she relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In her college years, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female president and sole foreign president. In 1972, she earned a master's degree in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a journalist-critic and TV host. She was a guest on Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own books with his assistance.
