Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarships for his family as well as service to the community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. In football, he played with three of his brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. In the three years that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the college. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. Then he started his career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as an athlete, was captain of his team throughout 1975. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for the player as a member in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
